Criminal Justice Training

IIR maintains a full-scale training department with extensive experience in developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs. Since IIR’s inception, training of law enforcement has been a top priority and has resulted in numerous successful programs. IIR’s ability to coordinate and deliver law enforcement training across the country is nationally recognized. IIR has delivered training in every state and in several U.S. territories.

IIR supports criminal justice training programs by:

Consulting with federal and other partners to identify training needs.
Coordinating with federal, state, local, and tribal entities in need of training to ensure effective program delivery.
Facilitating focus groups and providing subject-matter expertise.
Developing effective curricula.
Coordinating and facilitating training events, including logistics and identification of instructors.
Generating and distributing thousands of training materials, multimedia products, and informational items.
Producing and maintaining online training programs and tutorials.
Developing specialized program and reference materials.
Maintaining knowledge about, providing training on, and conducting compliance audits for 28 CFR Part 23, Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies.
Providing program and training evaluation and postevaluation.

Drug and Task Force Training

CTFLI

Center for Task Force Leadership and Integrity (CTFLI)

CTFLI online training promotes leadership and integrity; sound management principles; and the protection of privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties within a task force setting. Training is available to all sworn U.S. law enforcement, with special emphasis on professionals with executive, command, and investigative responsibilities. This no-cost training is provided via a restricted-access Web site.

CenTF

Center for Task Force Training^™ (CenTF) Program

The CenTF Program provides specialized training and technical assistance services to local, state, and tribal law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Training and technical assistance are provided in the areas of specialized task force management and command, narcotics enforcement management, and methamphetamine investigation management. Program services emphasize officer safety and task force performance measurement and are delivered by nationally recognized active command personnel.

VALOR Initiative

The VALOR Initiative is designed to prevent violence against law enforcement and ensure officer resilience and survivability through delivery of training and resources to our nation's law enforcement professionals. VALOR offers in-person training, online training, and Web-based resources to law enforcement executives, commanders, analysts, and frontline officers.

Criminal Intelligence Training

Criminal Intelligence Sharing: Protecting Privacy, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties (Privacy 101)

The Privacy 101 Training and Technical Assistance Program is designed to promote effective information sharing by clarifying the various rules and regulations that govern the collection, receipt, storage, and dissemination of criminal intelligence information and promote the protection of privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. Program services are provided through in-person training as well as through on-site and remote technical assistance service delivery.

28CFR

Criminal Intelligence Systems Operating Policies (28 CFR Part 23)

The 28 CFR Part 23 Training and Technical Assistance Program provides specialized training and technical assistance designed to improve justice information sharing through effective implementation of criminal intelligence systems and enhanced development of privacy and civil liberties policies by law enforcement agencies. Specialized technical assistance is also provided to agencies in the effective implementation of 28 CFR Part 23 and the development of agency privacy policies.

Anti-Terrorism Training and Technical Assistance

	Communities Against Terrorism (CAT) Program The CAT initiative, a component of the SLATT Program, was designed to enhance relationships between law enforcement and local businesses. The CAT initiative offers templates that outline potential indicators of terrorism for various industries. The templates are provided to law enforcement at no charge and are designed for customization by local law enforcement agencies.

	State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) and Technical Assistance Program SLATT provides specialized terrorism detection, investigation, and interdiction training and technical assistance services to state, local, and tribal law enforcement throughout the United States. SLATT offers in-person training, online training, and Web-based training and resources to law enforcement and prosecution authorities. SLATT offers Investigative/Intelligence Workshops, Anti-Terrorism Workshops for Campus Law Enforcement, Executive Briefings, and Specialized Training events. SLATT offers general anti-terrorism awareness training through its Train-the-Trainer program and provides invaluable Web-based education, research, and case studies to qualified personnel through the SLATT Web site.

	Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI) The Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI) builds on what law enforcement and other agencies have been doing for years—gathering information regarding behaviors and incidents associated with criminal activity—and establishes a standardized process whereby SAR information can be shared among agencies to help detect and prevent terrorism-related criminal activity.

Law Enforcement Forecasting Group (LEFG)

Through the combined expertise of frontline law enforcement leaders and academic research professionals, the LEFG plans to compile and analyze emerging issues and trends to develop law enforcement policy recommendations and disseminate the findings and recommendations via briefings, publications, and presentations.

Major Case Investigative Teams (MCIT) Training and Technical Assistance Project

The MCIT Project provides training and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies interested in developing and implementing major case investigative efforts to facilitate intensive multijurisdictional investigative efforts to respond to high-profile crime problems.
