Law Enforcement Forecasting Group (LEFG)

In an effort to identify emerging issues that may result in overarching policy implications for the criminal justice field, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP),Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), created the Law Enforcement Forecasting Group (LEFG), which consists of selected law enforcement and criminal justice executives. The LEFG membership consists of 16 selected law enforcement and criminal justice experts from across the nation. Through the combined expertise of these frontline law enforcement leaders and academic research professionals, the LEFG plans to compile and analyze emerging issues and trends to develop law enforcement policy recommendations and disseminate the findings and recommendations via briefings, publications, and presentations.

IIR supports the LEFG by providing:

Meeting logistics and support through regular contact with BJA and LEFG members regarding the inaugural meeting, including notification to membership of meeting logistics and agenda items to be discussed, facilitation of the meetings, and documentation of meeting proceedings.

On-site management and coordination for all facets of LEFG meetings, including serving as an independent recorder to document discussions and analyze the discussions for discernible trends.

Coordination of reimbursement of travel expenses for eligible LEFG members.

Collaboration with OJP/BJA and LEFG focus group members to prepare and publish briefings and reports highlighting trends, policy options, and recommendations.
