The following document, Applying Security Practices to Justice Information Sharing, is the product of the Global Justice
Information Sharing Initiative (Global), Security Working Group. This document is an overview of the information and system
Many technical reference documents exist that review the technology in much greater detail; therefore, the intention of this document is to provide an overview of the “best practices” surrounding information sharing in the justice and public safety communities. It is not intended to be a technical document.
We understand that reading this large document throughout is, perhaps, improbable for most busy professionals. We would suggest that you refer to the section on Models for Justice Information Sharing, which brings many of the concepts to life by using tangible operational examples currently in existence. Although the models and the examples contained do not represent the whole of the justice and public safety communities, they are representative of the types of scenarios where security concerns must be resolved to facilitate information sharing. As clarification is needed, refer back to the main body of the document for additional information on security considerations.
The Global Advisory Committee hopes that you find this information valuable and useful in your efforts to facilitate seamless information sharing within the justice and public safety communities.
Sincerely,

Chairman
Global Advisory Committee
